What Should Customers Look Out For When Buying Components for SMT Production?

What should you look out for when purchasing elements in SMT spot production? Note: Each bundle should
include the same component number and bundle information as the BOM
. It is preferable to include a
codeword on each package. You should call us before you send the BOM if there are any differences.

BOM

Excess Components: Reistors Capacitors and diodes (603, 0805 1206, 2225 SOT, Turf, MELF
plans) require a minimum 50 pieces, but must exceed the requested amount by at least 30 pieces.
(Instance:Assembly Amount: 40 pieces. We will need 70 pieces. This meets our minimum of 50 parts plus
the Set up Amount). Resistors and Capacitors (0201,0402, Mini Melf and Micro packages) require a minimum
100 pieces. The requested amount must be exceeded by 50 pieces. (Instance:Assembly Quantity 80 Items –
We require 130 Items – This meets our minimum 100 Pieces plus the extra 50 Pieces of the Setting Up
Quantity). For expensive parts like IC, BGA and QFP, you may need to add a small amount of excess
(between 1-5 pieces based on the complete Assembly Quantity) to the total Assembly Quantity. This will
ensure that your assembled boards are shipped on time.

Product Packaging: All SMT components not provided in reel form should be placed on a
continuous tape. Do not cut the SMT components into strips if you want to use them for multiple boards.
Instead, keep them in a continuous tape or reel. Assembly is also possible with components in tubes or
trays.
